Ordances of Secession

    Has anyone heard this argument?

To find the reasons for secession, you must go to state declarations of the causes of secession, and only four states published documents for this. All four — SC, MS, TX, GA — cited slavery as the primary cause, and the first two cited it as the only complaint they had against the union.

His argument seems to be that since the other Southern States didn’t publish their declarations for secession theirs wasn’t valid.

SC also published another document from their secession convention that emphasized the longstanding economic grievances against the North, so that assertion is not entirely correct.

As for the last statement, that is lunacy. The person is simply trying to enhance their argument by ignored evidence to the contrary.

True. Thank you again Professor. I look forward to your next course.
