Quick question. As I understand it, it seems that the Tea Act of was a protectionist piece of legislature that regulated tea in such a way that gave the East India Trade Company an advantage in the market and severely hindered any competition. Would this be an accurate statement?

Yes, indeed. It gave the East Indian Company an exemption from the Navigation Acts, thus allowing it to undersell competitors.
