I’m curious to know if anyone has read Rothbard’s Conceived in Liberty and any general impressions anyone might have.

I have read it, enjoyed it a lot – but it is very long. Only just starting this course, so too soon to draw comparisons yet.

I’d recommend reading it if you are able to spend the time.

I had asked a question in one of the Live Sesions on whether it was a must read, and Tom said that it is extremely detailed and might be best used as a reference guide if one is looking to delve deeply into a specific event or sub-period of the time.

I think I’m going to jump into it next and read it straight through. Would you recommend that, John? Did it hold your attention all the way through?

On a related note, I’m reading Strictly Confidential (Rothbard’s unpublished Volker Fund memos) and it contains some great colonial-era US history. I’d highly recommend it.
