    Professor Gutzman,

This is a bit off topic, but I’ve heard you talk many times about part of your upbringing in Latin America.
I have become very interested in learning more about South American history, especially after listening to the lectures regarding U.S. relations with that part of the world. So, I’m currently looking for some books on general history, starting from the pre-Columbian era, and stretching up to the present (or maybe just the communist revolutions). However, I know that many of the books written on the subject are riddled with Marxist land mines, and would like something a bit more objective. You’ve had the experience of living there, so if you could shoot me a few solid books, that would be great.

    Thanks,

    John

I’m sorry, but this isn’t my field. I recommend posting this question in the general forum.
