I am working on my class project for Environmental Science (sigh,). I am to do a study and presentation on a specific species, of which I chose the American Bison. I have been looking to deviate from the traditional liberal environmental view point and take a more free-market approach. Can anyone suggest some references? I’m looking at specifically the history of the Homestead Act, buffalo hunting, Gov’t involvement, etc, etc.
I have seen an article titled Buffaloed: The Myth and Reality of Bison in America which cited a book by Andrew Isenberg entitled The Destruction of the Bison: An Environmental History, 1750-1920, which apparently, gives a revisionist historical perspective.
Any ideas?
