I thought Prof. Bean said that stores and other places were desegregating before they were mandated by the courts. I was wondering where I could find articles or books with this information. I have tried to find this info myself but was not successful. Thank you.

Note that the Montgomery bus boycott was successful in pressuring businesses, including but not limited to the bus company, into prodding the politicians to desegregate bus services.
