Can any of my favorite professors here (you all are my favorites) opine on whether Lochlainn Seabrook is considered a respected and accurate historian-especially on matters related to slavery and the War for Southern Independence? I have no opinion either way at this time. Thanks in advance! John

A quick glance at his oeuvre on Amazon(dot)com’s Web site shows him asserting that there was never real slavery in America, the Emancipation Proclamation was intended to be temporary, there were a substantial number of blacks in Confederate armies, and other such stuff. These assertions are just false.

I’ll say no, this isn’t accurate.

    You’re welcome.

    Thank you Professor Gutzman!

I would read Clyde Wilson or anything Shotwell Press (mostly from amateurs like Seabrook) before reading Mr. Seabrook.

    Professor McClanahan,

Thanks for for the sage advice. I will most definitely read more of Clyde Wilson’s works as I already own a few.

    John
