Hi Kevin, Brion, or Tom,
My question is pretty straightforward. I’m interested in the best general, comprehensive history book on the Indians of North America from Pre-Columbian times to roughly the beginning of the 20th century, covering not only encounters with Europeans but also the varying histories, cultures, and mythologies of the tribes themselves. This is obviously a huge topic, but if you’ve got something to recommend that is a “go to” book for serious scholars or a staple of the field that’d be great. If not, even just a book I could whet my appetite with as a beginner’s introduction would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.
