Abolition of Slavery in Political Platforms before 1860

    Did any political party before 1860 have the abolition of slavery in their platform? I googled the Republican party platform for 1860 but couldn’t find anything that said they wanted to end slavery.

    They denied wanting to end slavery. Their position was “No More Slave Territories.”

    The Liberty Party opposed slavery. No other did.
